Activation
INDIGOxSTACKT
Brief: Design a versatile space within Stackt Market that can transition between hosting events, book clubs, and author talks, while also selling books and music. The space should include engaging, photo-worthy activations to attract foot traffic and create memorable experiences for visitors.
Concept: Inspired by outdoor living and Scandinavian design, the space featured oversized benches that blurred the lines between indoor and outdoor elements. Decorative outdoor tile and light, Scandinavian-inspired flooring created an inviting atmosphere. Custom leaning bookshelves maximized space with minimalist elegance, while the interactive layout encouraged customers to engage with the design, listen to music, and draw inspiration.
Results: The pop-up space successfully modernized the concept of the Indigo bookstore, attracting a demographic of young professionals and new families—groups that typically didn't shop in the larger, big-box locations. The curated selection of books and music introduced the brand to a fresh, trend-conscious clientele, creating a connection with audiences across several new key markets.

Neon Installation:
Designed an oversized "READ" neon sign with a vertical book icon, creating a bold visual focal point and social media activation. Set against black ceilings, the neon added a youthful, modern touch, complementing the custom graphic wall and elevating the pop-up's overall aesthetic.
Record Shop:
Created a record corner inspired by the "maker" and DIY communities, repurposing milk crates as fixtures to reinforce themes of renewal and sustainability. The adjacent wall featured a custom mural blending vinyl decals and hand-painted elements to evoke motion and texture. Designed to feel like an elevated first apartment, this space invited customers to listen to music and draw design inspiration from its unique fixtures and artistic elements.
Living Wall + Kobo Activation:
Indigo Books & Music partnered with Rakuten Kobo to launch their new e-readers through an in-store activation. A living wall, served as a lush backdrop for customers to explore the devices. A neon sign reading “Listen” was added to draw focus and create a visual link to the “READ” installation at the front of the space. Together, the two features worked in tandem to create a balanced, engaging experience.
Interior Design:
Designed the space with functionality and impact in mind. Two oversized 12' x 12' benches served as both seating and locked storage for inventory. One was transformed into a planter to introduce greenery, while the other displayed curated coffee table books. Decorative outdoor tile and Scandinavian-inspired flooring reinforced the concept of bringing the outdoors in. Custom leaning bookshelves maximized space, holding inventory without cluttering the layout.
